Highland at the SNMA Annual Med Ed Conference
There was so much excitement and buzz around the AHS-Highland EM/IM table at AMEC in New Orleans this afternoon! Recruitment galore by our Highlanders – for people to apply to our clerkship and residency program.
A very proud moment for Highland-AHS. Our EM and IM residencies were represented by an amazing team of attendings and residents, who just returned today from New Orleans. Not only did they spread the word about AHS and connect with Black medical students and residents across the country, but they also held a procedures workshop for medical students in partnership with UCSF. This was no small feat – as it involved a high level of resourcefulness and organization with the SNMA board to pull this off. Particular shoutouts to Drs. Omonivie, Alex, Deidre, Raghav, and DaShawn for all that they did to make this happen and inspiring the next generation of Black emergency physicians. You’ll also see in these pics that they were joined by Social EM Externship 2020 alumna, Olivia Madison, and in the workshop was Social EM Extern Kwame McCain (soon to be MS4)!!
Huge recognition also goes to our exceptional attending Dr. Naya Misa in co-hosting this procedures workshop along with Highland alum Dr. Starr Knight. And special thanks to Dr. Tyronda Elliott (our much loved Critical Care faculty member) for her AHS representation, pictures, and shoutouts to our AHS residents at AMEC!
